TelComm Credit Union serves approximately 25,000 member-owners in Springfield, Missouri and the surrounding area. With assets exceeding $295 million, TelComm currently has four Springfield branches, a branch in Republic, Missouri and a branch in Nixa, Missouri. Membership is open to those who live or work in Greene, Christian, Lawrence, Webster and Polk counties. As a member-owned cooperative, TelComm’s mission is to provide quality financial services to members, to remain responsive to members’ needs, and to pursue a philosophy of “People Helping People” within the community.
During a fiercely competitive period when numerous financial institutions were offering attractive rates on Certificates of Deposit (CDs), TelComm’s leadership saw an opportunity to reach an internal financial goal in a 2-month period. ADsmith was tasked with creating a marketing campaign to promote the most aggressive CD rate in the area – one that offered a 6 month CD at 6% APY with a $1,000 minimum balance.
In conjunction with TelComm’s Chief Experience Officer, ADsmith created and deployed a multi-faceted campaign that promoted the CD offer on TelComm’s website, through an eblast to members, via social media, on multiple paid digital media platforms, on billboards, and on television. In addition to making a TV buy, ADsmith’s media team negotiated a 3-minute interview on a local television program that explores opportunities in the area.
The campaign generated immediate awareness, not only among TelComm’s current members but also within the community at large, bringing new members into the credit union. Near the end of the second week, ADsmith received a call telling us that TelComm had already reached their financial goal – a full six weeks ahead of the projected end date.
